Bathroom Sink Design

Posted on: February 27, 2013

Are you planning for a bathroom remodel? The bathroom sink is one of the highest impact updates you can make. Not only does it affect the aesthetic of the space, it can also help make your bathroom more functional!

When it comes to bathroom sink design, there are two things to consider—the style and material. You have a variety of options for both.

Bathroom Sink Materials

What material are you interested in for your new bathroom sink?

Stainless steel: Stainless steel bathroom sinks are quite common in modern homes. They are durable and easy to clean, and they require minimal maintenance.

Porcelain or enamel: Enameled sinks are a great economical choice for your bathroom sink and, like porcelain, come in a variety of colors, not just plain white. Porcelain is the typical bathroom sink that many homeowners automatically consider, but enamel is similar and works just as well.

Copper: Although not as common in many bathrooms, copper is a viable option for your sink material. A copper basin makes for a great sink in a rustic setting!

Marble or granite: Granite and marble offer a very beautiful look for a vessel or basin bathroom sink. Both materials last a long time—and granite is resistant to scratching and heat damage.

Bathroom Sink Ideas

Talking to professionals can help you better understand your needs and is a great way to decide on your bathroom sink style.

Under-mount: Under-mount sinks are one of the most common types of sinks, hands down. They make cleaning the vanity easy and offer a very traditional look for your bathroom. Under-mount sinks can be all different types of materials—porcelain and stainless steel are probably the most popular.

Vessel / basin: Becoming more and more popular for bathrooms, vessel, or basin, sinks complement any type of bathroom! So many different materials can be used for vessel bathroom sinks—granite, marble, copper, stainless steel, etc.

Pedestal: Pedestal sinks work well in smaller bathrooms—they are a great way to increase floor space and can add a unique look to your room. Many pedestal sinks are porcelain or enamel.

“Although we have given this project a rating of 10 in all areas, we would like to give our thanks and appreciation to our designer Joel and installer Andrew (and crew) for the excellent job they did in remodeling our bath.  It was truly a pleasure working with them from beginning to end."
