When it comes to bathing at home, homeowners are seeking luxury more than ever before. They’re doing away from the compact shower areas and bathtubs of the past in favor of larger walk-in showers with more space to enjoy a spa-like experience. Bath, Kitchen and Tile Center has helped many clients throughout Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey design and install walk-in showers, and we continue to see the trend grow through 2015.
Benefits of a Walk-In Shower
There are many reasons homeowners choose walk-in showers for their bathrooms, particularly the master bath. Walk-in showers are:
- Luxurious—perfect for creating a spa-like experience!
- Spacious with plenty of room to move around
- Easily accessible and ideal for aging-in-place bathroom designs
- Durable and long lasting
- Environmentally friendly
- Stylish and easily customizable
- Easy to clean
- And more
Designing the Perfect Walk-In Shower
At Bath, Kitchen and Tile Center, we are here to help you create your perfect walk-in shower. We will make sure your shower has proper drainage in place and help you choose the best location to install it in your space—typically in the corner of the room. We can also help you select a tile design for your shower interior that’s slip-resistant, easy to maintain, and in a style that blends in well with the remainder of the room. A half wall can be installed to provide protection against splashing.
For an even more luxurious bathing experience, you may want to consider installing multiple shower heads—which are also beneficial if your walk-in shower is being used in a handicap bathroom design. Heated flooring can similarly enhance the spa-like experience and make you more comfortable upon exiting the shower. Your walk-in shower can also double as a steam shower to create a soothing, sauna-like environment in your bathroom.
Other features to consider include shower niches or a bench for ultimate relaxation and easy bathing. Check out our previous post on shower design planning for more ideas.
