Stunning Navy-Blue Kitchen Remodel in Wilmington, DE

    Remodeling Project Summary
This stunning, dark blue kitchen was optimized to entertain the masses. A functional cooking
space that every guest could enjoy was the top priority while designing this space. Everything
from the quartzite countertops, wood top island, professional cooking range, & more help this
kitchen stand out and make it an absolute dream space for any avid entertainer. The customer
needed a space that was practical for the amount they cook and entertain. The customer
expected multiple appliances in the island and the refrigerator moved to the other side of the
room. The cabinets are Omega Maple-MDF painted. The countertop around the perimeter of
the kitchen is quartzite (fantasy macaubus) and the island top is wood. The flooring tile is grey
porcelain tiles from Garden State Tile. The backsplash is marble stone tiles from Garden State
Tile – Bianco Carrara. Excellence in workmanship was displayed in the herringbone tile flooring
and the homeowner hanging the cabinets themselves. The color combination of navy perimeter
cabinets and black island cabinets is very unique. As well as the idea of moving the fridge to the
total opposite side of the room to leave more space in the main area of the kitchen. Another
unique feature of the space is the natural quartzite countertops as opposed to the most
popular quartz countertops. The last unique feature we’d like to point out is the mood lighting.
The homeowners had the lights in the space connected to their phones and can be set to
multiple different occasions such as morning, TV, special occasions, etc. The customers were
extremely satisfied with the space and how it fits in perfectly with their entire custom home.

    Craftsmanship
There was excellence in skilled labor and attention to detail displayed in the herringbone gray
porcelain tile flooring. There was also attention to detail in the lighting of the space. The clients
wanted the lighting to be coordinated with the colors of the kitchen. They developed lighting
for the space for every occasion connected to the homeowners’ smartphone, morning, TV,
special occasions, etc. The most notable piece of this kitchen is the gorgeous quartzite
countertop. The veining that runs through the quartzite matches the navy cabinets on the
exterior of the kitchen. Other notable pieces include all of the custom cabinets made to fit the
appliances. The homeowners entertain so much they wanted a warming drawer, ice machine,
and touchless trash can built into the island which then required custom cabinetry to fit all of
their needs. (Island appliances shown in 3rd after photo.)

    Interior Design/Architecture
Yes, the overall aesthetic does meet the original needs. The needs were met by moving around
the existing doors and windows. Next to where the refrigerator is now was originally a door, it
was moved into the living room so the kitchen would have more space for entertaining. The
window by the sink was made bigger. The flooring was also replaced in the entryway of the
home to match the kitchen tile pattern. The island was also made a lot bigger for entertaining
purposes. The cooktop was also moved from the island to the perimeter of the kitchen to make
the surface area of the island much bigger. Without the cooktop in the way the whole island
can be used for entertaining. An ice maker was added next to the refrigerator as well. It took
some time to figure out the design of the island with three appliances.
