White Cabinet Kitchen Remodel in Lewes, DE

Total White Kitchen Renovation

Originally these homeowners wanted to buy a new home closer to the beach in Lewes. The
dream home they really wanted ended up being sold to someone else so they decided to stay in
their current home and fully renovate it. The homeowners had previously done two bathrooms
with us so they came back to us for this total remodel. The needs and expectations were to
keep the space a very light color, keep the existing wood floors, and maximize the space to
create more storage. The layout did not change too much from the original. The homeowner
wanted the bar area to be the main focus of the space with leaded glass inserts to show off
their liquor collection. Prior to the remodel, their liquor was displayed on a bar cart.

White Oak Kitchen Cabinets

Another expectation was very intricate and different flooring in the pantry/coffee bar area. The coffee
bar in the pantry was originally in the kitchen in the old space. We moved it to the pantry so it
could have its own area. Another expectation was the custom tile floor pattern in the pantry.
The cabinets are white oak by Decora, countertops are Cambria Quartz Pendle Hill, the
backsplash is Garden State Kiawah Sand (Glossy), beverage center in the bar area is Monogram.
The powder room includes Bergen Elk lighting, Vox Rectangle bathroom sink, and Toto toilet
Promenade II. The pantry/coffee bar area includes a Fiat Serv-A-Sink and six different 9mm
hexagon porcelain tiles from Terra; Grigio Esageno, Floreale vers. F, Cubo Vers, Cornice vers,
Stella vers, and Giglie vers. Unique features include leaded glass inserts in the bar area and the
intricate, patterned tile flooring in the pantry/coffee bar area. The customers were extremely
satisfied with the entire project. She said it was well worth the wait.

Tile Flooring Design & Installation

The tile flooring in the pantry/coffee bar area is an excellent example of skilled labor and
attention to detail. It is a very cool design that combines 6 different tile patterns that were
carefully laid out to make the perfect custom design. Another special detail to note is the
crossbucks on the end of the bar run and peninsula. These features were added to match the
leaded glass crossbucks featured in the bar upper bar cabinets.

Microwave Cabinet Challenges

A few challenges had to be overcome throughout the duration of the renovation. The first was
the microwave cabinet came out longer and deeper than most microwave cabinets so it had to
be refit. Due to the COVID-19 supply chain issues, we had a very hard time getting the glass
inserts for the bar area. The details were supposed to be in matte black, lead and the
manufacturer kept sending them with brush nickel instead. We kept having to push back and
reorder them from the manufacturer four times.

Cross Buck Design & Glass Bar Cabinets

The overall aesthetics do meet the original goals. The homeowner wanted to keep the space
light, keep the original floors and maximize the space for storage. Really renovate their home to
match the dream home they were unable to purchase. Also, to make the kitchen more
functional for cooking. The main highlight of interior design and architecture is the consistency
of featuring cross bucks on the ends of cabinetry as well as the glass bar cabinets. No challenges
with interior design or architecture.
