ADA Kitchen Remodeling

Whether you have a home right now that does not have an accessible kitchen or you are looking to buy a home that you can make your own, an accessible kitchen space is a must. There are many things in a kitchen space that can be changed to make it more accessible these might include:

  • Cabinetry – Raising the toe kicks can allow for much better access.
  • Sinks – Installed without a base cabinet a sink becomes a whole lot more accessible.
  • Flooring – Smooth surfaces provide easier navigation.
  • Drawers – Cabinets that provide additional pull out drawers can help when it comes to reaching what you need.
  • Custom Cabinets – These can be created to work with a lower countertop height.
  • Shelving – Eliminating doors altogether and using open shelving can greatly help with access.
  • Handles – Wider handles can help when it comes to opening and closing drawers.
  • New Appliances – Appliances that offer easier access, for example, a refrigerator with an ice and water machine on the front.

In addition to the changes above, you will need a kitchen designer that is familiar with ADA kitchen remodeling so that a floor plan is designed that allow for better flow and easier access.
