Choosing Bathroom Tile

Posted on: December 14, 2015

If your bathroom was last remodeled when pink tile was fashionable or it just doesn’t feel like the relaxing room that you wish it was, a change of bathroom tile can make all the difference. Bathroom tiles have many jobs they perform, from protecting your walls from water to providing a waterproof surface for your shower, but just because they are functional does not mean that they can’t look good too!

There are a range of tiles that are suitable for bathroom use that protect elements from water and also add style to your space. We off a great array of these tiles and we’ll go over your options here.

Bathroom Tile Options

Bath, Kitchen & Tile Center offer a range of tile options that will work in your bathroom. Here are some of the options you may want to consider when tiling your space:

  • Ceramic Tiles – There are two main types of ceramic tiles, glazed and unglazed. When using ceramic tiles in your bathroom you will want to go with glazed tiles. Thanks to the protection the glazing offers, glazed tiles work better at resisting moisture. Ceramic tiles come in a semi-gloss, high-gloss, or matte finish according to your preferences.
  • Tumbled Stone Tiles – Tumbled stone tiles can work well in a shower and surrounding area, however due to the rough finish they are not often recommended for general floor or wall use inside your home. A tumbled stone shower can add a natural look to your bathroom space, bringing the outdoors inside.
  • Porcelain Tiles – Porcelain tiles are harder than ceramic tile and offer greater water resistance, making them a perfect choice for bathrooms. Porcelain tiles come in many styles and can even mimic the look of natural stones. They are also a great choice if you are looking to install radiant heating in your bathroom.
  • Granite Tiles – Sealed granite tiles work best for bathroom use, because this process makes sure that the tiles are truly waterproof. Granite is a strong natural product that can easily resist scratching and staining, which is why many people use it in their kitchen. Choosing the right type of granite tile is a great way to make a bathroom feel and look opulent.

“Although we have given this project a rating of 10 in all areas, we would like to give our thanks and appreciation to our designer Joel and installer Andrew (and crew) for the excellent job they did in remodeling our bath.  It was truly a pleasure working with them from beginning to end."
